Mr. Mok Yan-po informed of the proposed procedure, i.e. to hear the case on the written statements which will be supplied to him, that he will be allowed to cross-examine the persons who

made these statements if he wishes, and that he will be allowed

to make any statement, and call any witnesses, that he wishes. Enquiry adjourned till Tuesday the 10th May at 10 a.m.

Mr. Mok does not wish to cross-examine any of the witnesses.

Asked if he wishes to make any statement in addition to what

appears in his letter he says

I leave it to your clemency, and ask to be excused this

mistake. I have had over 16 years' service, and 5 years on the

temporary staff, and have not committed any gross error, I have

always given satisfaction to the heads of my departments. I am

an old man. I ask mercy of the honourable members of the

Council. I have a wife and 8 children to support.
